In 2017 Zimbabwe faced another national disaster after the events of the El Nino induced drought of 2014 and 2015. A tropical cyclone originating from the Indian Ocean called Cyclone Dineo was responsible for heavy abnormal rainfalls. The floods affected the whole country but southern parts including Matabeleland North and South were the most devastated. The floods were claimed a national disaster.
